South Craven School students celebrated all things Sci-Fi at a special Whovian Extravaganza.

The event featured villainous daleks, fascinating scientific experiments and a visit from Dr Who novel series author Daniel Blythe.

The occasion was one of many taking place across the country to mark Dr Who’s 50th anniversary.

Organiser Hannah Bridge, who is South Craven School’s head of English, said: “I’m so grateful to everyone who was involved either as a host or a guest.

“It proved to be a great day, which appealed to a real cross-section of our school community.

“It’s just a shame that we don’t have a reason to celebrate this British television phenomenon every year – 51st anniversary doesn’t have quite the same ring to it!”

Mr Blythe spoke to year seven and eight pupils about his inspirations and motivations as a writer.
