Police are stepping up plain-clothes and high-visibility patrols in Skipton town centre.

Skipton Police Inspector Will Scarlett said there had been lots of positive feedback from shopkeepers and the public.

“We will be continuing with the patrols right up to Christmas and into the January sales,” he said.

The campaign involved teams of police officers and PCSOs on foot patrol visiting shops and giving crime prevention advice, and engaging with the public. Two arrests were made on one day – one for shop theft, and the other for breach of bail conditions.
