Yorkshire Water has scrapped planned higher price increases to ease financial pressure on households.

The company – last week named Best Utility Provider 2013 in the WOW! awards – announced that any rise in bills would be linked to inflation and not as high as previously planned for the next financial year.

In 2014 the average bill will be £373, £6 lower than expected and Yorkshire Water is also committed to keeping future rises in line with inflation for the following five years.

Concerned at household costs, it decided not to push ahead with the planned 2014-15 price increase agreed with Ofwat in 2009.
