The Imagine hair salon in Station Road, Steeton, is under new management.

It has been bought by architect Marc Taylor, his wife Louise and brother Paul, who have decided to retain the Imagine name.

The salon will continue to operate largely as it has since it was established in 2007 with the continued service of stylists Sharon Atkinson and Kelly Varley and the addition of Kelly Lawrence, who also has numerous years’ experience. Beautician Ebony Metcalfe will continue to work alongside the hairdressing team.

The Taylors hope to refurbish the former Co-op building, keeping the salon on the ground floor, creating a beauty suite on the second floor and using the loft space as an office for Marc’s business, Aire Valley Architects, which was established in 2010 and, until now, has been managed from a home office.

He said: “Sharing my office location with a hair salon was not exactly what I had in mind when I started looking for some office accommodation, but I’m now really excited to be involved with the salon and look forward to developing the old co-operative building and giving it a new lease of life.

“We are keen to sympathetically restore it wherever possible and intend to expose some of the fantastic brickwork internally in the proposed new beauty suite.

“We are planning the renovation works carefully to minimise any impact on the day-to-day running of the salon.”

Marc added: “This venture has the potential to generate opportunities for jobs. Hopefully it will help Aire Valley Architects expand and there will also be extra capacity in the salon and the beauty suite once the work is complete. Hopefully we can begin the search for local beauticians or stylists to join our team in spring next year.”
