A girl from Cowling has got rid of her long blonde hair to help a family friend who has been fighting cancer.
Six-year-old Ellie Crawford, of Gibb Street, had her hair cut at Cross Hills Co-op on Saturday.
Her hair will be made into a wig for eight-year-old Tyler Manley, of Glusburn, who is recovering from having a brain tumour removed.
Stylists Louise Hargreaves and Liz Clayton, from The Hair Shop, Cross Hills, cut Ellie’s hair and the special event also included a raffle, with prizes arranged by Ellie’s gran, Joyce Crawford, who works in the Co-op.
Ellie’s mum, Leanne, 32, said: “It was fantastic. Ellie is made up - she loves her new haircut. Her hair is now wrapped up in tissue paper and we’ll deliver it to Tyler this week.”
She added she was counting the money raised via collection tins in Cross Hills and Cowling. The cash will go towards Ward 52 at Leeds General Infirmary, where Tyler was first treated.
