The co-ordinator of Heartstart Addingham has been presented with a Civic Pride award for 2013.

Alan Davies, who is one of 12 community responders, was presented with his award by local MP Kris Hopkins.

Addingham Civic Society said Mr Davies’ name was put forward some months ago, but it did not take long for the committee to agree with the proposal.

Mr Davies, who also donated a kidney earlier this year and is an Airedale Hospital governor, has helped raise the funds for four defibrillators in the village. A fifth is expected to be added soon.

Civic Society chairman Jim Robinson said: “Our award reflects individuals’ and organisations’ contribution to the local community. No one can doubt Alan fully deserves it and the wording of our award is very appropriate – in recognition of Alan’s outstanding contribution to the health and well -being of the residents of Addingham, a credit to the village.”

Mr Hopkins said he was very impressed by Mr Davies’ commitment and achievements and he could not think of a more worthy recipient. The MP has said he wants to take part in a Heartstart training programme in the New Year.
