Austwick CE Primary School has won a £10,000 Awards for All grant.
It will use the money to create an outdoor play and learning area in the school grounds.
It has already installed new play equipment and, in the spring, will create a meadow and a sensory garden in memory of Lesley Crutchley, who was headteacher for 20 years and died last year.
There will also be a den building area and raised planting beds.
“We try to get outdoors as much as possible,” said headteacher Gill Woods.
The grant was one of 85 awarded across Yorkshire and the Humber, with the funding totalling £765,108.
Alison Rowe, Big Lottery Fund spokesman, said: “These are relatively small grants compared to our other funding streams, but this often encourages people to be more inventive in how they plan to deliver projects that will make big differences.”
