North Craven Strollers have launched their 2014 walks.

The walking for health group organises regular, free and gentle walks around Settle, Gargrave and Hellifield.

And new walks added for the first quarter of 2014 include strolls around Coniston Hall and Halton Gill.

Walks are open to all and the only requirements are a pair of good walking shoes or boots and weather protection.

NCS chairman Dan Bavington said: “We have around 40 regular walkers and are a friendly and welcoming group. We have a number of members who are getting over surgery or illness.”

Jean Maxwell, who leads the Gargrave walks, added: “It is very rewarding to see people improve their fitness and wellbeing over the weeks as the walks make a massive difference to the physical and social health of everyone.”

The group meets every Wednesday at 1.30pm at Settle’s Millennium Garden (near Booths car park), on the first Thursday of the month at 10am at Summerseat, Gargrave, and on the third Thursday of the month at 10.15am at Ahernes car park, Hellifield.

Start times are linked to local bus timetables and people share cars for the walks which start further afield.

There are also walking for health groups in High Bentham, Cross Hills and Skipton.
