A Skipton health clinic and assessment centre is offering free drop-in advice sessions.
Starting next week, Fit for Purpose, based at 15 Otley Street, is offering the sessions between 3pm and 5pm on Mondays to help people take their first steps to becoming more active.
Fiona Raby, Fit for Purpose’s personal trainer, said: “The drop-in sessions are designed to give people the confidence and support to get more active.”
Resident Rebecca Sutcliffe, who recently joined a beginners’ running group, said: “I hadn’t done any formal exercise for six years and was daunted by the idea of getting fit. I’ve found the sessions to be supportive and friendly.”
Fiona added: “It’s great to see people build in confidence in a very short space of time. Some of the beginners’ running group are working towards taking part in one of the 5km weekly park runs which take place every Saturday in Aireville Park. Many of them would never have dreamt they could do this.”
