Former teacher Irene Feather has died at 88.
Born in Silsden, she attended Eastwood Council School, in Keighley, and later returned as a teacher.
Her brother, author John Waddington-Feather, said his sister excelled both academically and in sport.
Irene later married Cumbrian farmer Jim Batty and lived and taught in the Lake District for 56 years.
Her funeral will be in the Lake District on Wednesday.
