A jumper sale raised more than £700 towards the refurbishment of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cross Hills.

Church member Gabrielle Ramsden staged the event at Keighley’s Central Hall to boost efforts to raise up to £40,000 for desperately-needed work on the building.

“I was delighted with how it went and thrilled to raise such a terrific amount,” she said. “I may hold another sale in the spring.”

The sweaters were donated by Guiseley firm TB Ramsden Ltd, where Mrs Ramsden is design director.

Extensive work, from rewiring and heating installation to plastering, is needed to bring the Aire Street church up to standard.
