Pupils at West Craven High Technology College in Barnoldswick have been given helpful advice on how write a review.

Film critic Josh Hammond, whose father is a maths teacher at the school, talked to year 11 students as an introduction to their next GCSE English Language assessment.

Josh studied for his English degree at Cardiff University and has spent the past year building a website and going to film festivals around the world, including Cannes, London, Utah, New York and Edinburgh.

Josh is now studying for a Masters degree in magazine journalism at the University of Central Lancashire.

He gave advice about how to write a successful review and how to avoid common pitfalls. He also offered pupils the chance to submit their own writing for inclusion on his site.

Head boy James Goodall said: “The session was incredibly interesting and informative and gave me an insight into how to write a good review.”
