A 25-year-old has been barred from all Skipton pubs for three months after admitting the assault of a member of staff at the town’s Venue Bar.

Matthew Dobson had been ordered out of the sports bar by door supervisor Simon Barker at around 10.30pm on November 23 for fighting, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday.

But on his way out, Dobson, who claimed to have drunk 17 pints of lager before going out, swung his arm at the other man, causing a small cut to his mouth.

Dobson, who the court heard had already been banned from licensed premises under the Stop Trouble and Nighttime Disorder (STAND), told police he had drunk 17 pints before going to the bar and could remember only vague details.

Magistrates handed Dobson, of Williams Road, Steeton, a three month exclusion order, barring him from all licences premises in Skipton for three months. He was also fined £100, ordered to pay compensation of £100 to Mr Barker, costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £20.
