South Craven Walking 4 Health group is planning more walks in 2014.

The popularity of the walks means the group is planning extra fortnightly walks on Thursday mornings in Cross Hills, Glusburn and some nearby parishes.

The first will take place next Thursday, January 16, meeting at 9.30am at Glusburn Institute. The usual Monday morning walks will continue.

Health walks last about an hour-and-a-half and are designed for people who need to undertake physical activity for health reasons.

Co-ordinator Andy Glen said: “Throughout the autumn, despite the poor weather, over 30 people regularly attended our Monday health walks. We are very impressed by these numbers and the progress new walkers soon make. We are now aiming to provide more opportunities for those wanting to join us.”

The walks are usually followed by refreshments at a local village or church hall.
