A new campsite could be set up in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
Farmer Oliver Barker is seeking planning permission to change agricultural land at Catgill Farm, Bolton Abbey, into a summer campsite for 20 to 30 pitches. If approved, it would operate from Easter to the end of September.
The application also includes the provision of on-site facilities and a nature reserve.
A design and access statement says the farm diversification scheme would offer much-needed affordable overnight accommodation.
“It is an appropriate and sympathetic development proposal with limited visual impact, which will preserve the special qualities of the Yorkshire Dales National Park,” it adds. “In addition, it will support the rural economy and the primary farming enterprise.”
The application will be determined by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
