Members of a Cross Hills-based weight loss group have raised more than £900 for a trio of good causes.

The people who attend the sessions run by Slimming World consultant Pauline Howard have collected £409 to support research into pancreatic cancer and £400 to go towards the Macmillan cancer nurses.

They have also raised a further £100 for the Airedale special care baby unit.

Pauline, who runs the Monday evening slimming classes at St Peter’s Church Hall, Cross Hills, said the cash was generated during 2013 via a coffee morning, a party and raffles. She said: “It was a group effort and everyone got involved. Shops donated raffle prizes. I’m pleased with how much we’ve been able to raise.”
