Embsay with Eastby Parish Council has called an extraordinary meeting to consider resubmitted outline plans for a residential development on the western approach to the village.

The proposal is to build a mix of nine houses, along with an access road, on land between Skipton Road and the Embsay Steam Railway banking.

An element of affordable housing will be included in a terrace at the eastern end of the site.

“It is clear to us there is considerable local interest in this application and the general issue of building on local greenbelt sites. It is therefore essential that local residents be given a formal opportunity to express their views,” said parish council chairman Coun Gill Quinn.

And to facilitate this, the council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the small committee room at the village hall.

“While we hope members of the public will come along to the meeting to put forward their views, it is important that they also submit their own individual comments and concerns directly to Craven District Council by the deadline date of January 30,” said Coun Quinn.

“While this is an outline application at this stage, it is important to bear in mind that Craven District Council has designated the parish of Embsay with Eastby as being suitable for the building of a minimum of 45 houses over the next 15 years to fulfil the central quota for new housing stock.”

Details of the application can be viewed on Craven District Council’s website or by visiting its offices at Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton.
