The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is planning to hold frequent surgeries across Craven in the lead up to the Tour de France this summer.
Station manager Dave Winspear said: “The Tour de France for us is a very big event and, from a fire safety point of view, we’d like to provide the public with a chance to meet us so we can provide relevant advice and guidance.”
Mr Winspear said that people interested in arranging Tour-related events, renting out their homes as a bed and breakfast, setting up mobile food outlets or using their land for temporary campsites or parking were among those who could benefit from the surgeries.
“We’re expecting quite a lot of people to let out bedrooms for the Tour de France, but when you do so you become a commercial premises and have to meet fire safety requirements,” said Mr Winspear. “Rather than trawl through all the guidance, people can visit these surgeries.”
The first two surgeries will be held at Skipton Fire Station from noon to 5pm tomorrow and again next Friday, January 31.
