Year 6 pupils at Skipton’s Greatwood Primary School are still coming down to earth after taking part in a huge singing event at Sheffield Arena on Monday.

Twenty-four youngsters joined a choir of 5,000 for a Young Voices performance led by 2009 X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon.

Watched by their proud parents and relatives, they performed a range of songs, from gospel to hip-hop.

“The children thought it was absolutely amazing,” said Greatwood music teacher Sarah Daggett. “They were so excited and really got involved in the whole atmosphere and drama of it.

“It is the first time we have taken part in Young Voices and we will definitely be going again. It is a valuable opportunity for the children to experience performing in a huge arena. It is something you can’t recreate elsewhere.”
