A learner driver has been handed a curfew and a 12-month ban by Skipton magistrates after admitting driving while disqualified.
Glen Scott, 39, whose sentence also included fraud by giving a false name to insure his car, never held a full driving licence, the court heard.
He was stopped on the A629 at Cononley Lane Ends and it was discovered he did not have a driving licence and was not insured.
Scott, who the court heard had nine previous convictions for driving while disqualified, had failed to re-apply for his licence after a conviction in 1994.
He had tried to insure his vehicle under a different name, the court was told.
Mohammed Farooq said Scott did not know he had to take a test after his last conviction and had been frank in his admissions to police.
Mr Farooq said Scott had only ever held a provisional licence and had attempted to get insurance by using a variation of his name.
Scott, of Parkinson Lane, Halifax, was given a 12-month community order with a three-month curfew from 7pm to 6am and a 15-day low-level activity programme.
He was also banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay costs of £85.
