Craven District Council chairman Donny Whaites launches swim challenge
9:00am Friday 31st January 2014 in News
Swimmers of all ages and abilities are being urged by the chairman of Craven District Council to raise money for Airedale Hospital.
Chairman Donny Whaites is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the hospital’s accident and emergency unit with Craven Pool’s annual swim challenge.
The challenge, which will run until the end of March, gives swimmers three targets – a bronze target of 384 lengths, or three miles; a silver one of 768 lengths (12 miles), and for the serious athlete, the gold target of 1, 536 lengths (24 miles).
Those taking part can decide when and how many lengths at a time they do, but they must be completed by March 31.
“This is a vital service to our area and deserves our full support,” said Coun Whaites.
“Besides, the Challenge is a great way to get in shape for 2014.”
Entry details are available from the reception at Craven Pool, or by telephoning (01756) 792805.
