Five doctors’ surgeries in Craven are opening on selected Saturdays in February thanks to funding from the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Patients are being encouraged to use the practices rather than put extra strain on already busy accident and emergency departments.
The five are Silsden Health Centre, Settle’s Townhead Surgery, Skipton’s Fisher Medical Centre, Grassington Medical Centre and Cross Hills Group Practice.
Dr Colin Renwick, chairman of Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG, said: “We are really pleased that some of our GP practices are opening on Saturdays.
“We appreciate the commitment from GPs and their staff.
“As winter is a particularly busy time for A&E, we hope this will help ease some of the pressure on urgent care services.”
