A university lecturer from Cononley has become the first academic in the UK to be elected to the council of the Public Relations Consultants Association.
Robert Minton-Taylor – a senior lecturer at Leeds Business School, part of the metropolitan university – is also the only northern member of the council, which represents many of Europe’s leading corporations.
He said: “My election will help integrate industry thinking and practice into the lecture theatre at Leeds to improve the employability skills of our students.
“I am also a strong advocate of developing robust internship policies to safeguard students as well as protecting the interests of employers.”
The PRCA has more than 300 members across the world, including many of the UK’s top consultancies.
Mr Minton-Taylor is a former director of public relations agency Burson-Marsteller and was global media relations manager for a Scandinavian shipping and logistics company.
