Five adults and two young people were confirmed by the Bishop of Bradford, the Right Rev Nick Baines, at St Thomas’s Church, Sutton-in-Craven.

It was his final confirmation service as Bishop of Bradford as the diocese is soon to be disbanded.

A large congregation, together with the families and supporters of the candidates, attended the service, which was followed by a tea provided by church members.

Bishop Nick will begin a sabbatical in February and will return to take part in a service of celebration and thanksgiving for the diocese in Bradford Cathedral on Saturday, April 12, at 3pm.

He will also preach and preside at the Maundy Thursday service of Reaffirmation of Ordination Vows and, on Easter Day, will preside at the cathedral for the last time before laying his pastoral staff on the altar, marking the end of the Diocese of Bradford and the creation of the new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.
