Plans to build a small estate of family homes in Hellifield are to be unveiled at a consultation event in the village on Tuesday.
Craven Cattle Marts hopes to build the homes on land it owns between Back Lane, Gisburn Road, and the railway embankment.
The plans are in outline, but have an indicative layout of 42 homes.
Jeremy Eaton, of Craven Cattle Marts, said: “We believe that a high quality development of new homes between Gisburn Road and the railway embankment will make a positive contribution to the village.
“The new homes proposed will help support and deliver ongoing works to Craven House and Craven Terrace and also provide funding to improve sports and recreation facilities at Hellifield’s recreation ground.”
The company says that money raised from the development, if approved, would go towards the regeneration of Craven House into offices, apartments and a new post office.
It is also supportive of the parish council’s bid to have the recreation ground allocated a community asset.
The event will also give residents the chance to view recent improvement work to Craven House.
A planning application is expected to be submitted to Craven District Council over the next few months.
The consultation - at Craven House, on Main Street - will run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm - and residents will be given the opportunity to put questions to representatives of the cattle mart and also to its advisors, Broughton-based Rural Solutions.
