Bobble hats and woolly jumpers are all the rage at the Age UK North Craven shop in Settle.

Staff are getting ready to mark Bobble Day – a fun fundraising idea to help make winter a better season for older people.

The initiative takes place tomorrow and people are encouraged to dig out their whacky woolly jumpers or hats and wear them to work for a suggested donation of £2.

And you can help further by buying a brightly coloured bobble or wristband for £1 from the Age UK shop.

This winter the charity estimates that 24,000 older people could die from the cold and that 1.7 million pensioners cannot afford to heat their homes.

Bobble Day is being supported by Skipton MP Julian Smith, who visited Age UK in Settle on Friday.

He said: “Age UK do great work providing services, advice and information for older people and supporting the community they are a part of.

“Having previously helped Age UK in North Craven deliver Meals on Wheels I know how important their services are, so I am delighted to be able to support Bobble Day. I hope as many people as possible get involved in this great event.”
