A special open day based around the poser ‘Who was Richard Thornton?’ marked the 160th anniversary of a Burton-in-Lonsdale primary school.
Richard Thornton’s CE School opened its doors and invited friends and family in to look around, view old pictures, records and log books, and share in the history of the school.
Visitors were also welcome to look at the work of the current children at the school, which has been threatened with closure.
The school hopes to build on the success of its open day by developing further links with the community by asking if villagers have anything they would like to share with the school.
