A 10-bedroom hotel, last used more than four years ago, could be turned into a family home.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is being asked to approve the change of use of Amerdale House at Arncliffe.
A design and access statement submitted with the application says the hotel has been unoccupied since June 2009.
The present owners, who live in Somerset, want to relocate and use the building as their main residence. However, because of its dilapidated state, the restoration would need significant investment, likely to be more than £1 million.
If approved, the refurbished building would have seven bedrooms and four reception rooms.
