Pupils from Grassington Primary School organised and ran a farmers’ market.
The students gave villagers the chance to buy fresh produce from a range of local food producers and made their own homemade soup and assembled herb tins.
The children have been involved in the Soil Association project from start to finish, which has included deciding how to market the produce and what price to charge.
Money raised from stall fees and the sale of produce made and grown by the school will go towards other sustainability activities such as buying seeds to grow vegetables in school growing areas, farm visits and food education.
Teacher Eleanor Harrison said: “It has been a valuable experience for all the children. They have all had responsibilities and risen to the challenge. They appreciate where their food comes from whilst supporting local businesses and suppliers.”
