Police are at the scene of a serious collision on Gargrave Road in Skipton involving an elderly woman pedestrian.

The incident was reported at 9.25am today and occurred at the junction with Belgrave Road.
The victim, who is in her 80s, was hit by a Nissan Micra as she crossed the road and has been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. 

The road is closed in both directions to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and is expected to remain closed for several hours.

Parents and pupils at Skipton Girls’ High School and Ermysted’s Grammar are free to move in and out of school but advised not to cross the blue and white police tape which has cordoned off the scene.
