Artist Stephen Wright, of The House of Dreams, London, ran a two-day workshop for Craven College BTEC Fashion and Clothing students.
He talked about his House of Dreams idea where each room of his East Dulwich home is adorned with a richly embroidered tapestry, interwoven with his stories. He has even created his own Mexico.
Stephen joined the students as they prepared designs, costumes and accessories for a mythical Norse fantasy story, The Glittering Plain, written by the famous Arts and Crafts designer and writer William Morris in 1913.
The students made wooden shields to create their individual mosaic interpretations of this fantasy story, creating an elaborate accessory and setting for the college’s annual fashion event on May 23.
Mr Wright’s house is bequeathed to the National Trust and is open to visitors by appointment.
