Ahead of the summer’s grandest sporting event, the National Trust will be offering camping and accommodation opportunities along the route of the Tour de France.
Would-be campers will be able to sleep under the stars at some of Yorkshire’s most picturesque locations.
Among them will be Buckden in Upper Wharfedale, which will offer tent pitches for the full weekend of the world’s biggest cycling event – July 5 and 6 – and a number of camper van pitches.
Joanna Royle, head of marketing and supporter development for the National Trust in Yorkshire, said: “We can’t wait for the action to unfold in Yorkshire and Buckden.
“Our campsite is right next to the road, which will mark the start of the first official climb up to Kidstones Bank. It offers a fantastic opportunity for people to be part of the sporting spectacle while also enjoying the area.
“We know that thousands of people are expected to descend on Yorkshire to camp for the race weekend this summer. Our campsites will be basic but will definitely adopt a festival feel as excitement builds to the cyclists arriving. All revenue from the campsites will go towards supporting the National Trust’s conservation work in the region.”
Bookings for pitches are now open and demand is expected to be high. To reserve a pitch or find out more information, visit nationaltrust.org.uk/yorkshire.
