Quiz teams at the Devonshire Arms in Cracoe have raised £840 for the Upper Wharfedale fell rescue team The cheque presentation took place during the pub’s Monday quiz night.

Manager David Tobitt said: “Our quiz nights have really taken off and when I asked the members which charities we should support, without hesitation they said Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“We have collecting boxes on the bar for both of these lifesaving organisations and I am frequently amazed at the amount individuals put in. However, to hear the tales of family or friends’ rescue, it really brings it home just how vital the teams are in the community.”

Chris Booth, a long-term member and past chairman of the fell rescue association, said: “We had a great night at the Devonshire Arms. They have been wonderful supporters and it was fitting to have a team social gathering in the warmth of such a good pub.”
