Pupils at Sutton-in-Craven Church School had the chance to experience a medieval banquet.
As part of this term’s project about castles, pupils in reception and Years one, two and three dressed up as knights and princesses and feasted on very simple food during a banquet held in school.
Teachers and other staff members also dressed up as knights, servants, court jesters and the ‘Lady of the Castle’ was teacher Miss Paula Margetson.
“The children had a fantastic time at the banquet,” said Toni Birch, school business manager. “They also played medieval games in the morning and learned rhymes about castles.”
Then last Wednesday, the pupils visited Skipton Castle, where they had a tour and were shown a real banqueting hall.
“It’s so nice to have Skipton Castle on the doorstep,” added Mrs Birch. “It’s a brilliant resource for the children.”
