Campaigners wanting to improve a village playground are celebrating a £500 windfall.

Gargrave Playground Association, battling to raise cash to replace dilapidated and outdated equipment, has received the money from North Yorkshire Police Disposal of Property Fund.

Mum-of-two, Sarah Pawson, of Gargrave, who is backed by friends, mums and parish council clerk Helen Carruthers, said they were delighted with the grant.

“We now have all three quotes for the playground and are getting lots of support from the parish council and looking at dates for the consultation,” she said.
