A Fiat Punto was stopped by police in Skipton because of a strong smell of cannabis, magistrates heard.
Driver Michael Bisson, 49, handed over an unsmoked cannabis joint and a small freezer bag containing amphetamine, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday. Bisson, who admitted two counts of possessing a class B drug, had 12 previous drug convictions between 1997 and 2009, the court was told.
Bisson, of Flawith Drive, Bradford, wanted to move to Skipton for a better life, the court was told.
In mitigation, John Mewies said Bisson had been approached by someone offering him the drugs while playing snooker in a pub. He had attempted to distance himself from the man, but had been followed out of the pub.
Bisson was fined a total of £140 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
