Children and parents at Bradleys Both Primary School have raised £506 to help the people of the Philippines still struggling after last year’s typhoon.

The tropical storm struck on November 7, 2013, killing thousands and leaving many more without food and shelter in the island country in the Pacific Ocean.

Now the school is backing the Skipton Craven Rotary Club’s project to provide Shelterboxes, which help a family survive after a natural disaster.

Each box costs £590 and contains a tent and essential equipment, such as a stove, a water purifier and tools.

“The children were very enthusiastic and desperate to help,” said a school spokesman.
