Garden waste collections in Craven have restarted.

The now paid-for service – managed by Craven District Council – has resumed following the winter break.

The council introduced an annual £24 charge for the fortnightly collections last year and was initially overwhelmed with the take-up.

Now, around 60 per cent of residents, or 8,675 households, subscribe to the service.

Current licences will run until the end of March next year and need to be displayed on residents’ brown bins to be sure of collection.

Residents who would like to subscribe to the garden waste collection service, or who would like an extra bin, can apply online at cravendc.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call the council’s customer services team on (01756) 700600.

Anyone with a brown bin they no longer want can also arrange for it to be returned by contacting the council.
