Armed Forces Day in Skipton could be adopted by Craven District Council.

The annual event could in the future be the responsibility of the council, following an appeal by Alex Bentley, of Skipton Royal British Legion, which currently organises it.

Mr Bentley said at last week’s council meeting it would be his wish that the council adopted the event, held in June, but that the running of it would still be carried out by the legion.

Council leader Coun Chris Knowles-Fitton (Cons) said it would be considered.

“I know this is something that we have looked at for a number of years and maybe the time has come for us to look at it in greater detail,” he said.

“I will not make any promises but we will look at it again in greater detail.”
