The Friends of Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association – formed a year ago – have held their first annual meeting.

Eighty-three individuals and organisations have now joined the group, which aims to make a “significant contribution” to association funds.

However, its main focus during the year had been to gain registered charity status but members had still managed to raise £5,000. The meeting was told chairman Val Walker-Wilton and treasurer Wally Wilton, from Threshfield, had decided to stand down.

New chairman Brian Donnellan, also from Threshfield, thanked them for their enormous effort.

The Friends still need committee members and anyone interested should email friends@uwfra.org.uk.
