The Craven Herald can reveal the source of the mysterious cards which appeared throughout Skipton, including Aireville Park.
The image of a bumble bee with a handmade knitted heart, which could be removed, and the words “I Love Skipton” were the work of Michelle Harrison and Tania Ashby.
It was their twist on the phenomenon of yarn-bombing, a street art in which street furniture and objects are decorated with knitting.
“Our twist on yarn bombing was to use the knitting on a post card,” said Michelle, 25, of Skipton, who is building up her own knitting business, Shell’s Knitwear. “We’ve done this to brighten people up and put a smile on their faces.”
Tania, a graphic designer who trades as Hello Goodbye Designs, said: “I’ve always been fascinated by everything connected with letters and messages.”
