Year six pupils at Hellifield Community Primary School have been given the chance to show their entrepreneurial skills.
They have been challenged to “grow” £50, which was donated by former governor Fiona Ludlam-Brown. She wants to enhance pupils’ money awareness and has tasked them with planning, organising and running various fundraising events throughout the year.
She hopes her £50 donation will be turned into a tidy profit, which will be given to charity at the end of the year.
The youngsters will choose the beneficiaries and they have already selected Help for Heroes, which is pertinent to a family in the school.
So far, the children have had a bake sale and have organised games at a school disco, raising a total of £75.
