A Cross Hills man has been fined £100 by magistrates after admitting using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a councillor.

Grant Doyle, 31, of Airedale View, was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victims surcharge when he appeared at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The offence related to an incident involving him and Keighley town councillor Graham Mitchell in the town’s North Street on September 19 last year.

Property agent Doyle – who previously had his business based in part of Keighley Civic Centre, North Street – had also faced a charge of assaulting Coun Mitchell by beating, but that charge was discontinued. He had pleaded not guilty to that allegation.
