A public meeting will take place in Silsden tonight for people to learn more about the Tour de France.

Regional tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire is giving a presentation at the event, at Silsden Methodist Church.

Doors will open at 6.30pm for people to browse display boards, and the presentation will begin at 7pm.

The meeting is being hosted by Silsden town mayor Chris Atkinson and the chairmen of Addingham and Steeton-with-Eastburn parish councils, Catherine Coates and David Mullen.

“Welcome to Yorkshire had a meeting in Leeds for parish councils but it clashed with other meetings,” said Coun Adrian Naylor, who is a member of a Silsden Tour group and chairs Le Tour Addingham.

“The Silsden event will pick up on the most up to date information and advice related to the Tour.

“It is open to anyone – parish councillors, individuals, groups and businesses.Attendance is free but people need to register on eventbrite.co.uk/e/tour-de-france-roadshow-in-silsden-tickets-10719196405. The Tour arrives in the area on July 6.
