The company, a subsidiary of Skipton Building Society, took home the award after the introduction of new technology enabled consultants to spend more time on customer service than data entry.
A return on investment was experienced within 16 months, while the technology has enabled HML to continue to meet the strict service level agreements it has with clients.
The same project won a Mortgage Finance Gazette Award.
Kim Brien, chief information officer at HML, said: “Over the past four years, we have invested £30 million in our IT and to be recognised by Gartner – the world’s leading IT research and advisory company – is a major achievement for HML.
“It is testament to the hard work across the company, particularly within the project team led by programme manager Paul Swinson, and stands us in good stead to make further progress in 2014.”
