A group from Bentham has been awarded £500 to make creative writing more accessible to local people.
Looking Well Written will use the grant, from the Craven Trust, to develop poetry and short story writing in modern formats, such as CDs, internet sites and newsletters.
Howard Matthew, a member of the group, said: “Most people seem to think that creative writing is only for a small minority, but we want to encourage people from all walks of life to write and listen to what other people have written.
“Recording poetry on CD can help people who have difficulty reading or whose sight is failing and free newsletters show that writing can be fun and can be enjoyed by everyone.”
The group meets every week on Tuesday from 11.30am to 1pm at the Looking Well Studios, on King Street, High Bentham.
