A right riot is promised this weekend when boys at Skipton’s Ermysted’s Grammar School step into high heels.

There’s A Riot Going On, written by deputy headteacher David Clough, will be performed at the school tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

And although there are plenty of female parts in the musical, all will be played – with gusto – by the 30 boys in the cast.

The youngsters have written the music and formed a band especially for the show, which is set in a school on tenterhooks as it prepares for the arrival of the dreaded Ofsted inspectors.

Set in the 1950s, the musical includes lots of rock and roll classics, as well as original music written by the boys.

Tickets for the musical, which will start at 7.30pm, cost £5 and £3 and are available from the school office or on the door.
