Silsden town mayor Chris Atkinson has met young residents who face losing their school bus.
He went along to a bus stop to talk to students who travel daily from the town to attend Skipton Girls’ High and Ermysted’s schools.
The youngsters’ parents were shocked to discover this month that a dedicated student bus travelling between Silsden and Skipton would be scrapped this September.
The bus is among several currently subsidised by North Yorkshire County Council which are due to lose funding as part of a £2 million budget saving.
The council announced the cuts last autumn, but Silsden parents and councillors claim they were not consulted.
Coun Atkinson said: “Parents didn’t know anything about the cuts. Now the children will have to go to Steeton or Addingham to get a service bus to Skipton.”
