Consultant colorectal surgeon Karl Mainprize has been appointed executive medical director at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
Karl, who was formerly deputy medical director at York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will take up his post on Tuesday, June 3.
Former medical director Dr Andrew Catto left to take the post of executive medical director at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in February.
A Cambridge University graduate, Karl has worked at Scarborough Hospital for almost 10 years – including two as deputy medical director – and was instrumental in developing the endoscopy service at the hospital.
He said: “I am looking forward to working closely with my new colleagues to enhance the services Airedale provides to commissioners and for the local community.
"I am interested in developing technology to improve communication with patients and multi-disciplinary teams and believe we can do more to design our service around patients’ needs.”
Karl is married with two daughters.
