A man who stole his friend's mobile phone and then had regrets pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared before Skipton magistrateson Friday.
Dale Chenier took his disabled friend Charles Stodart's telephone after sharing a cigarette with him at his home in Rombalds Drive, Skipton.
But he was arrested shortly afterwards when Mr Stodart contacted police officers. Chenier, 23, expressed shame and regret during his interview.
Chenier, of The Farm, Keighley Road, Skipton, who pleaded guilty to theft on April 27, was sentenced to 12 months community service with 60 hours unpaid work.
He was also told not to contact Mr Stodart and was ordered to pay a £60 victims surcharge and court costs of £85.
